Guimarães is much more than a city, it is the birthplace of Portugal. With more than 1,000 years of history since the extraordinary Countess Mumadona Dias founded a town, Guimarães is today a return to the medieval past of the Iberian Peninsula and the region of Portucalense. We begin the free tour in the Church of Our Lady of Consolação e Santos Passos, the work of the Baroque architect André Soares, where the famous Gualterian Festivals are celebrated in tribute to São Gualter. Afterward, we approach the city walls and begin our journey into the medieval past. We will pass through wide areas full of history and legends such as Largo do Toural and Praça de Santiago, monuments such as Padrão do Salado or Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Oliveira. The visit ends on the way to the castle, where there are 3 of the most important monuments of the founding of Portugal: the Guimarães Castle, the Palace of the Dukes of Bragança and the mythical Chapel of San Miguel. Come and get lost in the midd
