Uludag (Great Mountain), the ancient Mt. Olympus, dominates bustling Bursa, a historic city full of wonderful monuments dating back to the early Ottoman period. It is a wonderful place to linger for a weekend and receives fewer visitors than Istanbul.
We will begin discovering Bursa at the Great Mosque, often called 'Hagia Sophia of Bursa' in the town center. Right next to the mosque lies Grand Bazaar, which has preserved its local color and is far less touristy than its Istanbul counterpart. In the nearby, we will see Cocoon Inn where silk scarves are sold.
We will continue our walk towards Green Mosque which was built in 1424. And then we will see the Green Tomb decorated with turquoise tiles right next to the mosque.
Finally, we will visit the tombs of Osman and Orhan Gazi, the first two Ottoman sultans, who are buried up high at Tophane near an old Ottoman clock tower a
